Who We Are

About Us

The Hendrick Foundation is a registered non-profit organization that provides access to lands and recreational infrastructure that it maintains and is in the Municipality of Chelsea. This land includes the large five-acre Hendrick Foundation Garden located at the heart of the Hendrick Farm community, Hendrick Park’s acres of forested park, trails, and gathering spaces, as well as the Hendrick Park Natural Playground and Dog Park. One percent of home sales and resales in the Hendrick Farm neighbourhood directly support the Hendrick Foundation’s maintenance and improvement of these public green spaces.

Our Purpose

The Hendrick Foundation strengthens community wellbeing by caring for our natural spaces, and creating parks, trails, and programs that bring people together.

Our Mission

To build, preserve, maintain and ensure public access to the parks, trails, and greenspaces under the stewardship of the Hendrick Foundation.

What We Do

  • A resident generously donated a shed to the Foundation. This shed is equipped with an electrical supply for the small pressure tank required for the well that serves the Foundation Garden and provides storage for items related to the Foundation’s activities.

  • Working with the Community Garden committee, the Foundation has enhanced infrastructure at the road entrance. The gravel road has been graded and levelled to improve drainage and access. Additional parking spaces and bike racks have been installed. Water supply was installed and is serviced to keep the garden growing.

  • The Foundation continues the ongoing work to remove invasive species (primarily buckthorn) growing along the Garden treeline. Initial discussions have started about invasives within Hendrick Park; with further study identified as necessary.

  • The Busy Bee Zone in the Foundation Garden is located at the east end of the Garden. Pollinator-friendly shrubs have been planted on the perimeter to create a natural barrier around the hive area, and educational signage provides information about the initiative.

  • Planning is underway in 2026 to prepare a strategy for addressing raspberry patch renewal.

  • Trails connect the various phases of the Hendrick Farm project to the Foundation’s trail system. To better serve our community throughout the year, the Foundation is interested in developing collaborations with other community organizations to further strengthen and formalize the Hendrick Park trail network.

  • Planned tree planting has been completed along the creek to mitigate the impact of beavers and erosion. A renewal plan for tree planting in Hendrick Foundation Garden is underway.

  • The Foundation provides ongoing support to special project committees and educational programming.
